SMHA is providing 2 sessions this year for second year Novice players and Atom players looking at becoming a goalie next season.  The sessions are designed as an introduction to goaltending and are preceded by a 15 to 20 min equipment application session in the dressing room, so please arrive 1 hour before your session.  After the on-ice session there will be a parent information session.

Equipment should be borrowed from your Novice team or another Novice team and you are responsible for returning the equipment to the team in the condition it was received.  Atom players can contact me directly to arrange borrowing equipment.

COACHES:  We NEED rostered coaches to help on the ice so please sign-up! For insurance purposes you must be rostered.

If you are not already aware SMHA is piloting a hybrid goaltending option this season that aligns with Hockey Canada’s recommendations, and it intends to continue this program next season.  What this means is a goalie in Atom can choose to play as only a goalie or  play as a goalie and a player (Hybrid) when it is not their turn in net; provided their skills as a goalie and player are no more than 1 tier apart.  They must participate in the Goalie Only Evaluations and the Player Evaluations as well as provide all of their own equipment.  More information will be provided at the parent information session.
